Literature Text

Korra slowly opened her eyes, moaning in pain. “ugh, where am I?” she asked to herself. The last thing she could remember was fighting with a possessed Mako and getting hit in the stomach with lightning. She has to get out of here as quick as possible, Mako life is still at stake. Korra stands up at looks around. She seems to be in some kind of forest with a lot of weird creatures walking around. Then it hits her. “I’m in the spirit world!” she shouted “Does that mean I’m… dead?”

“Not exactly” said a familiar voice. Korra spun around and smiled.

“Aang” She said. “I’ve never been so happy to see you.”

“Good to see you too Korra” Aang replied.

“So, what do you mean I’m ‘not exactly’ dead?”

“Just that. You’re half dead, your body is injured badly.”

“oh. Great, FANTASTIC! How am I supposed to help Mako now?” Korra sat down in defeat. Aang sat beside her.

“You have to lure the spirit out of his body.” Aang told Korra.

“Thanks Aang, I’ll get right on that.” Korra said sarcastically.

“Show him your memories.”

Korra looked at Aang confused, “What?”

“He has forgotten about you and his brother. If you show him your memories that you have of him and you, Mako’s spirit will unlock and the bad spirit will leave his body.”

“But how do I do that?”

Aang put his hand on her head, about to send her to the physical world. “You’ll find a way.” With those last words, he sent Korra’s spirit back to her body.

Korra’s eyes flew open, and she sat up quickly. She yelled out in pain. “Damn” she whispered, “that hurt.” Korra leaned against a wall for support as she stood up. She looked around the cave and saw no sign of Mako. “Oh no” she said to herself. Korra didn’t care about the pain, she started running.

Not far out of the cave, she saw a figure of a man. A man with a red scarf, a man she recognized. “MAKO!” she yelled to get his attention.

The possessed Mako turned around in shock. “I thought I killed you.” He said.

“well,” Korra bent some earth at him making him fall to the ground. She immediately got on top of him. “You thought wrong.”

Korra bent the earth under him, binding his hands and feet so he couldn’t move. She placed her hand on his forehead. “Please come back to me” she whispered. Her hand and eyes started to glow as she shared all the memories she had of them with him.

When she was finished, she fell to the ground beside him and released the earth that was restraining her. The pain from her wound finally took over and she blacked out. ‘I hoped that worked’ she thought.

Mako sat up rubbing his head. “What? Where?” He looked down to see an unconscious avatar lying next to him. “Korra!” He yelled. He picks up Korra’s upper body and held it tightly against his chest. He could still hear her breathing. A wave of relief passed through him, but he knew he had to get her out of here. Faintly in the distance he could she a glow of light from the water tribe’s inner city. He picked Korra up and started walking.

Korra’s eyes cracked open, her vision a blur at first, but it slowly started to become clear of her surroundings. She was in her room at her parent’s house. “Korra?” she heard a voice of concern say. She turned her head to see her boyfriend kneeling at her bedside.

“Mako” she said weakly, but happy at the same time. Mako gently wrapped his arms around her.

“I love you Korra.”

“I love you too Mako.” Korra was happy to finally have her normal boyfriend back.
